Understanding Compound
Bows
Upon first glance, a compound bow can look incredibly intimidating with all of its attachments, complex design and gears at either end. Considering a bow can shoot anywhere from 300 to 400 feet per second, it is not something that you want to jump right into without first preparing to use the equipment. This website is the perfect tool for a beginning archer to become acquainted with their bow prior to their first shot. To start the process, watch the video below for a quick introduction into this course.
Other Types of Compound Bows
Overall, there are four different types of compound bows: Single Cam, Hybrid Cams, Binary Cams, and Twin Cams. The type used for the demonstration found in the "How to Shoot" tab is a Fred Bear single cam compound bow. Although each type differs slightly from one another, their main functionality and process that goes into its use is essentially the same for all types. The main difference between each, as seen in their names is the type of cams used for the bow. Other than this key component, the parts seen ahead can be found on each compound bow.
